Goals for 2009

  • Read all my Kurt Vonnegut books

I've read five and I got five more for Christmas which I need to read. Then there are a few more floating around in "out-of-print-land" which I need to track down. This goes with my life goal of reading everything he's written!

  • Take 2 fun classes

The first will be a woodworking class at the Indianapolis Art Center in Broad Ripple! I'm so excited, but kind of nervous...there will be ban saws, which I have never used before. Wish me luck!

  • Invest more in my friends

I've noticed that I never call first, I wait for them to call me and then feel awful when they don't. That's silly! They're my friends; it's time to take some initiative.

  • Exercise at least twice a week

I'm getting interested in yoga because it's relaxing but also difficult. I can get a workout and still de-stress after work. I don't need any extra equipment, and I don't have to worry about bothering my neighbors by stomping along to Tae Bo tapes!

  • Read my Bible daily

My schedule is so erratic because I work third shift. I need to integrate reading my Bible with something else I HAVE to do everyday. Something like brushing my teeth or making sure I have caffeine. I think if I associate reading my Bible with something I have to do daily, I'll start to realize when I miss a day. And let's be honest; I just feel better when I get into it everday.

  • Do one new thing everyday, no matter how small

This is something I've been trying the past few months and I've really enjoyed it. I want to put myself up to even more adventures!

  • Write everyday (which can be about the new thing I did that day)

I really miss writing as frequently as I did in college. I think one reason I don't write as often anymore is my lack of subject matter. That's why I'm going to pair this goal with the previous one.

I'm excited to have some attainable goals this year. In the past I've dreamed of doing things but haven't really thought of how to get there. Thus, I give up on my New Year's resolutions by February. Not this year, friends! :)
