Hot Mess of Snow!

Indianapolis got a foot of snow today! I don't have cool pictures like my friend Kiel, but I do have some interesting stories.

While some people stayed home from work, I braved my way in. Granted, the majority of the snow fell while I was actually at work. But let me tell you, the drive home was not pretty. I got stuck two separate times! Once I was turning a corner and my car slid into a snowbank. I got out and used my snow brush to dig out my tires. Suddenly, a man and woman in a huge pick-up hollered at me, asking if I needed help. These random strangers tied a rope to my bumper and pulled my car back onto the street. No idea who they were. Thank you, whomever you are!

The second time my car got stuck, I was turning onto the street by my building. I should've known better than to go down this road; I could see it hadn't been plowed well. But I went. And I got super stuck. As I was rocking back and forth between drive and reverse, one of my neighbors approached. I didn't recognize him at first because he had his hood pulled up and he was covered in snow from unearthing his car. But he got behind my car and pushed. Then three other strangers who had been clearing off their cars joined him! A bookish scenester walking down the street offered his snow shovel, "do you need my shovel? I just bought it!" and a sweaty Hispanic man told me, "put him in number 2 drive!" so I did. They got me out, but I couldn't risk stopping to thank them. I knew that would just get me stuck again.

So thank you, random neighbors and strangers! Warriors of snow removal and car-unsticking, I salute you!
