As I started to think about this crazy idea, I made a mental list of ways singleness could be a gift.
- I can do whatever I please without having to check in with (or worry about the opinion of) anyone else.
- I can pick up and leave for the weekend without having to coordinate with anyone else.
- I don't have someone else's baggage or debt to deal with.
- No fighting over hurt feelings.
- No DTR's (defining the relationship).
- There isn't someone pressuring me to be best friends with their family.
- I can focus on dealing with (and hopefully getting rid of!) my own baggage.
- Plenty of time to figure out what I want to do with my life!
So I suppose being single is a gift, of sorts. I do miss having a date to events, and I miss always having a best friend to do everything with...but I'm gonna be ok. Not in that crazy "let's do this for the rest of my life!" way...but for now, I am happy to be single. And there is nothing wrong with that.
Yeah I gotta agree with all that... whole heartedly...
