Dan Jordan

Heather Jordan is one of my oldest and closest friends.  On Wednesday evening, her father Dan had a completely unprecedented massive heart attack.  He suffered severe brain damage due to lack of oxygen, and had no EKG reading whatsoever.  He spent 48 hours in a completely unresponsive state in the critical care until at Ball Memorial Hospital.  Thankfully, that was enough time for his kids to fly home and say goodbye.

Dan passed away tonight at 9:13pm. He passed quickly once they took him off the ventilator and gave him sedation. He was surrounded by his loving family.

The family is so incredibly thankful for the outpouring of love, prayer, and support. Please continue to pray for them in the coming months as this will be a difficult and painful transition. They have their ups and downs, but are doing fair. Heather said she is overwhelmed by the generous offers of her friends, and she is so thankful for every one of them.

The viewing and public funeral will be held at Taylor University, where Dan and his wife Darlene worked. Also, three of the four children attended school there.  After the public funeral, immediate family will travel to Meadville, Pennsylvania for a private burial at their family plot.

Tomorrow morning is bound to be very difficult, but Christ is good and your prayers will carry us through.  For now, I leave you with an excerpt from Dan's favorite hymn. I know it holds very special significance for the Jordans, as it did for him.

"When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul."

  1. Thank you for sharing about Dan Jordan. He was my instructor for Music and Art Appreciation through the Indiana Wesleyan University LEAP program. I'm so sad to hear of his passing. I really enjoyed him as an instructor. I know that he will be deeply missed by family and friends.

  2. Dang dude, send Heather my condolences. He was one of my profs for a semester at Taylor and convinced me to switch my major to art. He was the nicest guy ever. So sorry.
