Southport Antique Mall

Today was Allie's birthday, and we went to the Southport Antique Mall. Oh, how we reveled among the cases of costume jewelry...the shelves of olive oil cruets and Fiesta Ware...the boxes of canceled postcards and family photos...the displays of old books and records...it was glorious!

My great find of the day was a Girl Scout Handbook from 1951. It's still in awesome condition, so I'm excited to actually read it. I was never a Girl Scout, but I've always kind of wondered why people my parents' age were so into Scouting. What's so cool about tying knots and building campfires?
