Pysanky

I had an awesome Easter break. Three full days at home, full of naps, dvds, cooking with my mom, finishing my taxes (not such fun), and hanging out at The Herot with Heather. Man, I needed the time off! Work has been crazy the past few weeks.

Something really fun (and terribly cultural) I did over the holiday was make Ukrainian pysanky. You use a wax batiking process to dye eggs in traditional Ukrainian patterns. This is something my mom did every year with her grandmother (Baba) and the other women in her family. We haven't done it for years because my nana was too sick, and then she passed away. But this year we got out our tools (kystkas) and got back into the habit. Here's a photo of our finished products.
