My new thing for today was to spend several hours writing about things I keep intending to write about. Here are some snippets for you.
- I was in high school and I was supposed to make up an African tribal dance as part of an English project. Missy and I worked on it every day during lunch for several weeks. We would buy Kit Kat bars from The Bear student store, and we would sneak our boom box into the upper gym so we could practice. Once the home-ec teacher caught us in there, so we had to quit for a few days. We tried to tell her we were working on a school project (and both of us were honor students), but she loved enforcing the rules for their own sake. Thankfully, we got the drama teacher to write us a pass. Even though he had nothing to do with our project, that yellow slip of paper bearing his scribble sanctioned the gym corner for us just the same.
- Then there was the time I showed up to babysit Aidan & Nadia and they were counting their Halloween candy. Two-year-old Nadia reached for a cinnamon disk wrapped in shiny crinkly cellophane. Terrified Nadia would choke on the candy; Chasity leaped over Aidan and slammed the butt of her hand into the cinnamon disk, shattering it into smaller, safer pieces. Both children gaped at their mother’s ninja moves and then started laughing so hard they could barely breathe.
Oh my!! I remember that so well! Just don't ask me to do the dance again cuz I forget it! But it was so much fun spending lunch up there. Wow..thanks for writting about that!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Aiden and Nadia... it's been a long time since I heard those names. I remember their cute little pictures!
