I'm wondering what effect this will have on the divorce rate. I expect it to go down for two reasons. 1) those who marry early have a higher divorce rate and if they're not getting married, the rate decreases. However, I'm betting the breakup rate will stay constant, but 2) because of this delay to marry, the presumed same number of breakups will not be included in the divorce rate.
Quick! Someone come up with another way to measure the data before people start sending e-mail forwards claiming the sexual revolution led to fewer divorces! I'd better start writing an article for Snopes...
